Snow Boots and Winter Boots

Snow Boots
Designed for snow, these boots are the right equipment if you’ll be working outside in wet weather. Wet constitutes muddy, slushy, rainy weather. The kind of weather no one likes. These boots have a rubber sole that usually creeps up the boot to the ankle or so. This ensures your feet will stay dry. The top of the boot is generally made of leather or a leather-nylon mix. This extends well above the ankle and usually includes a permanent or removable gator that keeps snow and slush out of the inside of the boot.

Review by L. Welsing – Amazon.com
I got these boots 2 weeks ago before the big snow storm in the North East and I love them. All the reviews said to get a size smaller which scared me because I wear an 11 so usually this doesn’t apply to me. I ended up getting a size 10 and started wearing the boots 3 weeks after toe surgery. The are extremely comfortable and I don’t regret getting a size down. I also discovered that you can take the sleeve out makes them a pretty cool pair of rain boots. If the sleeve weren’t removable I would argue that you may want stay true to size but with that piece being removable sizing down is the way to go. I am always cold and am notorious for layering up but with these boots you can either wear no socks or very thin socks or leggings and feel toasty. I’m very happy with my purchase.
Because snow boots are so specialized they do not allow much room for fashion, but who will be looking at your shoes when you’re half covered in mud or you’re so cold that your nose rivals that of the fat man’s favorite pet? The point… These boots are great if you work outside or if you’re constantly trudging through the white stuff when you go outside.

These boots are amazing. I spent days reading review after review before settling on these. They are gorgeous and so cuddly warm! I have larger calves and they fit, no problem, even tucking my jeans in them. They are extremely well-made and durable, functional and attractive. My only negative comment is that they’re so beautiful, I almost don’t want to wear them outside!
I was a little nervous because one of the close-up pics of the toe of the boot makes the suede look almost faded/grey- they are not faded at all, it must be the photography lighting. Agree with getting 1/2 size up from what you usually wear.

Winter Boots
Fur boots fall under this category. Winter boots are usually waterproofed or at least water repellant. They keep the feet warm while allowing for a more fashionable design. These boots are more functional as a really warm shoe than a boot. If you are wearing them to walk or stand in the cold, they’re ideal. If you’re wearing them to work in, or trudge through anything in, you’re probably not going to be very happy, and you’ll probably lose your money because winter boots, or fur boots, are not made to withstand that kind of wear and tear. You’ll end up caking them with mud or dirty snow, therefore ruining the outside, while the water from the mud or snow seeps inside and hypo-terminates your feet.
This rugged boot from Sorel is an ideal winter weather boot for those who tend to find themselves in extreme conditions. Constructed from waterproof nubuck and suede leather, the boot is seam sealed to keep feet warm and dry. The built-in gaiter/bootie has an easy barrel lock closure for walking in deep snow and an Achilles adjustment strap, which can be tightened to further provide ankle support for uneven terrain. The removable EVA comfort footbed reduces weight and adds thermal protection for long days in the cold, and the Thinsulate insulation has a rating down to a very chilly minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
